Our Story

Darryl’s Basement Cleaners  was born from a simple need — families looking for help reclaiming their unfinished spaces. Darryl with over 15 years as an exterminator often found himself asked by customers to clean up the remnants of rodent droppings in their basement. What started as an occasional favor turned into a full-fledged family business.

 

The turning point came during the challenging days of Covid-19 in 2020. 2021 was a monumental year for Darryl and Stephanie as they married and became the Shine family . Also, in 2021 by combining their skills, hard work, and shared values to bring relief and transformation to homes they officially launch Darryl’s Basement Cleaners LLC. What was once occasional cleaning transformed into a vision: a business that could truly make a difference in people’s lives. Together, they built a company that was about so much more than cleaning.

 

As their customer reviews show, they’ve touched the lives of many, with clients praising their professionalism, expertise, efficiency, and genuine care. Whether it’s a basement full of decades of accumulated items or a space needing a thorough deep clean, Darryl and Stephanie approach each job with the same commitment to excellence and compassion.

Meet The Founders

Darryl Shine

Co-Founder & CEO​

Darryl was born and raised in Harlem, NY. With the desire for new opportunities, he and his family moved to Connecticut in 1996. Darryl Shine is a multi-talented professional based in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he is Co-founder and CEO of Darryl’s Basement Cleaners.  He is a visionary leader with a growth mindset and enjoys helping others. With his positive outlook on life, he overcomes adversity and strives to be a man of integrity.

 

With 20+ years of experience in customer service, Darryl has built a reputation for helping people and providing exceptional service. Darryl is also actively involved in church groups, and community networks. With a welcoming smile he values serving the community, he is also a firefighter for the Bridgeport Fire Department.

 

He is an Alumni from Housatonic Community College and an Alumni of the University of Bridgeport Accelerator Program.

Stephanie Shine

Co-Founder & COO​

Stephanie Shine has always had a passion for businesses and how they can effectively grow and expand. She is also good under pressure and is known for bringing order to chaos and simplifying processes. She is known for being caring, encouraging, and a good listener among her friends, family, and clients.

 

With a background in strategic operational management, and leadership, her career expands over several industries including banking, nonprofit, and lending. Stephanie always enjoyed learning about different business development and knew she wanted to build a family business. She has more than 20+ years of management and operational experience and has helped organizations grow.

 

As a native New Yorker, she is an Alumni of Pace University, and Dutchess Community College. Also, an Alumni of the University of Bridgeport Accelerator Program.
